A Willing Slave

The connotation of the word “slave” invokes the idea “not voluntary”, that you are not free to do as you please. To be a slave of Christ, then, is to live for the purposes of Christ alone. We are already made for the purposes of God; our very bodies are made to glorify Him. But why do we want to be slaves of Jesus? Why would we surrender our free will to God? Well, God has given Himself totally to us. He has allowed our sins and the sins of the world, to overcome Him to the point of the Cross. Giving is God’s nature, He gives and gives and never takes. And being human, made in the image of God, we find our purpose in life, in emulating God in the total gift of ourselves.
